i'm planning to make a live or silent auction. the items shall be antique watches, antique grandfather clocks, and such.
now, what are the most important things that i should look out for? what are the quality goals? how do i measure the quality of this auction?
What makes a live or silent auction successful ultimately is the amount of money raised by the auction itself. You set a target for your expected gains, and hope to meet or exceed it. However, auctions are risky, as items may sell at much less than you expect simply because the right buyers aren't there or they aren't interested in buying the items available.
If you want to hold a successful auction you need to sell items that would appeal to your target audience (watch/timepiece collectors) and you have to let them know you are holding an auction so that they show up.
